DC Universe Online is Coming!
DC Universe Online, or DCUO, is DC Comics’ much anticipated foray into the MMORPG market. To date the only player in the Super Hero MMORPG realm has been the CoX (City of Heroes and City of Villains) entry. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game, one which I myself put countless hours into (much to the chagrin of my Fiancé). Marvel Comics likewise announced their own plan for an MMO which has unfortunately been derailed and subsequently redesigned to support Champions Online, based on the popular Pen and Paper RPG.
All of this leaves DCUO firmly at the top of the iconic heap in terms of clout in the Super Hero genre. Let’s face it, it is one thing to roam around Paragon City under direction of the Freedom Phalanx, but another entirely to walk in the shadow of giants in Metropolis and Gotham and perhaps join the Justice League of America. Fly over Metropolis with Superman. Stalk the shadows of Gotham with Batman. This is the kind of game all of us comic geeks have been waiting for. With rumors of tie-ins with the official story lines and the whole shebang.
